High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development of the United Nations 2021

CICED experts took part in the preparation for the work of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development of the United Nations 2021. The experts took part in the preparation of the Ministerial Declaration and the Major Group NGOs OON declaration. The High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is the main international platform for monitoring and review of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2021, the main theme of the forum was: “Sustainable recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development: ensuring an inclusive and effective path to achieving the 2030 Agenda in the context of a decade of action to achieve sustainable development “. The forum was held from 6 to 15 July. The 2021 session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development opened on 6 July 2021 with a series of high-level statements regarding progress, missed opportunities, and the value of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a guide to build back better from the global pandemic. Governments adopted the outcome of the 2021 session of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) on 15 July, ending a four-month negotiation process on commitments to advance the 2030 Agenda. The meeting took place in a hybrid format, which enabled delegates attending in person to vote on proposed amendments to the Ministerial Declaration. They then adopted the final draft by acclamation.
